Day 08: Chowki - Masartal (15240ft/7kms/4hrs)
A climb to remember! On this particular day trail we will not just explore the fabulous views of the valley but also climb the terrain. We will start the day with a strenuous trek till Khatling glacier, from where the trail quickly comes down to the bank of the river prior we start climbing boulder and slope adjacent to the Bhilangana. The Jogin crests are easily noticeable as the Jaonli (6630 metres). The trek now further progress transversely from the towering alpine territory and slopes to the serene and the peaceful waters of the Masar Tal (4590 metres). The water here remains ice covered till mid June. The Masar Tal chilly cold and is an elevated altitude alpine lake. It is just like a lunar landscape and that is the incredible sight from the Masar Top.
From Masar Top we will move ahead and start walking on a sharp landslides sort of region. On the trail do not go after glacier, you will traverse the hill. It's little challenging to undergo, throughout the way your tour escort will direct your way. Afterwards you will be having the immovable glaciers with a lot of snow.
Simply once, you move across the hill, cross through the extensive snow meadow which might take about an hour and it is an erect climb through the snow to reach the Mayali Pass. To pass this section of the climb and ropes can be useful.
After celebrations at the Mayali Pass, get ready for a sheer descent. It is a prolong stretch to move down. For the first 2 kilometres it will take you on the snow and after that you deal with both huge and small boulders on the way, which will be challenging on your ankles. The descent will take approximately a couple of hours after which you come near to the Vasuki Tal region camp ground. The neighboring janitor will prefer that you camp little far away from the Tal as it is a holy lake.

The climb takes about an hour and is not a very easy one. You are not less than (4000 metres) in this region. Kedarnath is noticeable from that locale. You are now just at the side of the Mandakini River. This is the river that you can see at the Kedarnath.
